A Qatari delegation led by a senior adviser to Qatar's prime minister and foreign minister arrived in Tehran on Friday morning for talks with senior Iranian officials, Iranian state media reports. Officially, the agenda is bilateral ties and regional developments.

According to Reuters, the visit is part of renewed efforts to broker a deal between Iran and the United States, with the mediation coordinated with Washington.

It is the latest in a string of visits to the Iranian capital in recent weeks, including Pakistani army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Qatar and Pakistan have been the main go-betweens in Iran-US contacts in recent months.
