Four Far Eastern forest cat kittens were born at the Novosibirsk Zoo named after R.A. Shilo, the first litter from a young pair formed earlier this year.

The kittens, born on May 7, are still nursing but have started trying meat and fish. The Far Eastern forest cat is a rare, endangered subspecies of leopard cat listed in the International Red Book, distinguished by its size, weighing up to 6 kg with a body reaching 90 cm and a 37 cm tail. The Novosibirsk Zoo has kept the species since 1979 and has bred well over a hundred kittens since its first litter in 1985.
