**Canada hits back at Trump with tariffs of up to 50%**

Canada has officially imposed **retaliatory tariffs of 15%, 25% and 50% on more than 700 categories of U.S. products**, escalating the trade war between the two neighbors.

The measures cover **C$27.6 billion worth of American imports**, including steel, aluminum, furniture, clothing, dairy products, appliances, electronics and agricultural equipment.

Ottawa says the tariffs are a **“dollar-for-dollar” response** to Washington’s latest 50% tariffs on Canadian goods. 

The new tariffs took effect at **12:01 a.m. today**.
