**EU Responds to Israeli Settler Attack on European Diplomats With Another Strongly Worded Statement**

The European Union has issued a statement “strongly condemning” attacks by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank, including the assault on European diplomats and a French mayor in the Palestinian Christian village of Taybeh.

But Brussels also made a point of praising Israeli officials for condemning the violence:

**“We take positive note of statements by several Israeli representatives who condemned the attacks.”**

The EU called for accountability and measures to prevent further violence, but announced no sanctions or other concrete consequences.

European diplomats are attacked, a French elected official is assaulted, and Brussels responds by thanking Israeli officials for saying the right things.

**Imagine the EU’s reaction if Russian citizens had attacked European diplomats.**
