**Israel retaliates against Britain over West Bank settlement sanctions**

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar announced a series of countermeasures agreed with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu following Britain’s new sanctions targeting illegal Israeli settlements.

Israel will:

 Shut down the British Consulate General in Jerusalem
 Expel British representatives from the Gaza coordination center in Kiryat Gat
 End British involvement in training Palestinian Authority security forces
 Ban a number of British politicians and other nationals from entering Israel

The British Consulate General represents the UK in Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza and serves as a key channel for Britain’s relations with the Palestinians.

Sa’ar accused the British government of pursuing a “hostile” policy toward Israel and warned: “Those who act against Israel will face a response.”
