“LISTEN, BASHIR — WE WON’T GO BACK TO THE DONKEYS!”

Protesters in Idlib city are now directing their anger at Syrian Energy Minister Mohammed al-Bashir as demonstrations over soaring fuel prices continue to spread.

Crowds can be heard chanting:

“The people want the minister gone!”

The protests are particularly notable in Idlib, the former heartland of the authorities now governing Damascus, as anger over fuel shortages, price hikes and the broader cost of living continues to grow.
