**Musk spent $474 million and Republicans lost anyway**

Elon Musk, the world's richest man, has given at least $474 million to Republican causes since the start of 2025, the New York Times reports.

About $216 million went to his own America PAC, which targeted dozens of House and Senate races across 17 states with ads, mail and door-knocking. One canvasser said he was paid just $1.50 to $3 per door. Another $168 million went to the Senate Leadership Fund, almost all of it effectively backing Ken Paxton in Texas, and $30 million went to the Congressional Leadership Fund.
