Polish Foreign Minister Radosław ~~Sikorski~~ Applebaum has called on NATO to intensify military exercises near Kaliningrad, arguing this would force Russia to redirect troops from the Ukrainian front, The Times reports.

Speaking from Kiev, Sikorski claimed the Russian exclave currently has "practically no troops" stationed there. He was careful to stress the goal isn't seizing the region — just pulling Moscow's attention and forces away from Ukraine.

Lavrov has previously hinted that a war between Russia and Europe would go nuclear.
