Protests Escalate in Syria 

Large crowds have taken to the streets in **Maarrat al-Numan**, with protesters blocking the Aleppo–Damascus highway as demonstrations over the Al-Sharaa government’s latest fuel-price increases grow increasingly confrontational. 

Diesel prices jumped **40% overnight**, while gasoline rose by roughly 26–28%. The increases are already feeding through into transportation and food costs, adding further pressure to already strained household budgets. 

What began as anger over fuel prices is rapidly spilling into broader unrest.
