THIS IS HUGE!!! Burkina Faso’s first domestically refined gold bar

President Ibrahim Traoré holds the first gold bar produced and refined entirely in Burkina Faso following the inauguration of RAFFINOR-BF, the country’s first national gold refinery.

For decades, Burkina Faso exported its gold for refining abroad. Now the country intends to keep the refining, certification and added value at home.

Traoré:

“Our ambition is no longer to simply be a country that extracts and takes its raw materials abroad. We want to refine all our metals here.”

The refinery can initially process 164 tonnes of gold annually, with plans to expand capacity further. 

Burkina Faso continues to assert its sovereignty over its land and natural resources. You love to see it!
