That is ITBP chief Shatrujeet Kapur, in what The Hindu calls the first official confirmation of the scale of the latest stand-off with China on the north-eastern border.

He said the force's newly raised Shaurya commandos played an exemplary role in the confrontations, and a full battalion of these high-altitude fighters is on the way.

The ITBP is also changing how it guards the LAC. Every border battalion now has a drone platoon, and within three years it will build as many underground shelters along the China border as it has above ground.
