K9 Vajra guns are now getting their navigation systems made in India.

India Optel Limited (IOL) said it has flagged off the first Indian-made lot of SIGMA 30N inertial navigation systems for Larsen & Toubro's K9 Vajra programme, at Ordnance Factory Chandigarh. They are built under a transfer of production deal IOL signed with France's Safran Electronics & Defense in December 2025.

• SIGMA 30N is a ring laser gyro system that lets guns find their position and aim without satellite signals, The Tribune reports
• That keeps artillery firing accurately even when GPS is jammed
• Dr. Garima Bhagat, Joint Secretary (Land Systems), Department of Defence Production, presided online, with L&T and Safran India officials present

**IOL calls it a significant step for indigenous defence manufacturing.**
