Israeli foreign minister Gideon Saar said his country would “act against Britain” if the UK sanctions it over plans to expand illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank. “The days are over when you could act against Israel and Israel would not respond. If they act, I think they will be making a big mistake,” said Saar. Saar’s comments come after UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband said last month that the government was planning to announce measures against Israel over the new E1 settlement project east of Jerusalem that would effectively cut the occupied West Bank in two.
