Italy has suspended the delivery of military aid to Ukraine, awaiting the US elections – La Repubblica

The government of Giorgia Meloni has been delaying the transfer of the 13th package of weapons to Kiev for several months, despite a promise to finalize it by the end of October.
According to the publication, Rome intends to wait for the US Congressional midterm elections on November 3 before deciding on its future policy towards Ukraine.
The last batch of Italian military aid arrived in Ukraine in December 2025. A new package has been prepared, but permission to send it has not yet been granted.
The delay in the delivery of Aster 30 anti-aircraft missiles, which Italy and France could provide, remains particularly sensitive for Kiev.
La Repubblica notes that the Italian government prefers to publicly promise continued support for Ukraine, while effectively delaying the delivery of new weapons.
