A U.S. Army AH-64 Apache attack helicopter crashed near Salado, Texas, on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, during a routine training flight.

Both soldiers aboard were killed. The helicopter was associated with Fort Hood.

The crash also sparked a grass fire, prompting evacuations of nearby homes. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
