 Captain Smit Machchhar, an Indian national and the pilot-in-command of Flydubai Flight FZ1073, successfully thwarted a mid-air disaster on September 30, 2026, after his Omani co-pilot violently attacked and stabbed him in the cockpit. 

The flight, operating a Boeing 737 MAX 8 from Dubai to Tel Aviv with roughly 180 passengers on board, was forced into a terrifying, rapid dive.

Despite sustaining stab wounds, Machchhar fiercely fought back to reclaim control of the aircraft from his co-pilot, who was allegedly attempting to crash the plane or carry out a hijack.
