Communal violence erupted in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, after objectionable social media remarks about Hindu symbols were made by one Sohail Khan.

This led to a confrontation between Jihadis and Hindus.

Four Hindu youths were stopped and assaulted, triggering protests and clashes outside a police station, with heavy stone-pelting, sword attacks and bombs reported.

Shops and homes were vandalised, and over 50 people, including police personnel and the Town Inspector, were injured.
