More than 12,700 U.S. tech professionals returned to India in the first nine months of 2026, on track to break records. 

The major wave of reverse migration is primarily driven by heightened H-1B visa uncertainties under the U.S. administration, recent IT layoffs, and structural policy changes like the suspension of some permanent labor certification programs.
