**Philippines’ Marcos Confident on Economic Cooperation With China Despite Tensions**

Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said he remains optimistic about expanding economic cooperation with China, despite continuing disputes between Manila and Beijing in the South China Sea.

Marcos said the two countries are discussing possible joint oil and gas exploration, driven partly by the Philippines’ need to strengthen energy security.

He stressed that economic cooperation with China does not mean the Philippines is giving up its territorial rights.
