STONE-PELTING DURING DURGA IMMERSION IN MAHARASHTRA’S WASHIM

Tension erupted near Tipu Sultan Chowk in Washim during a Durga immersion procession after objections were raised over gulal being thrown near muslim houses, triggering a heated argument between two communities.

The altercation escalated into stone-pelting from both sides. Police, SRPF and RAF personnel were deployed, and a curfew was imposed to bring the situation under control.

No damage to houses or vehicles has been reported. FIR registration is underway, with legal action being initiated.
