**U.S. and Canadian trade negotiators are meeting in Washington** for a third consecutive day to finalize a trade deal before threatened new U.S. tariffs take effect Saturday.

 President Trump has threatened a 50% tariff on about $20 billion of Canadian imports if no agreement is reached.

 Canada says the two sides are “very close” to a deal, with possible reductions in tariffs on Canadian vehicles, steel and aluminum.
