**Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has rejected calls to hold elections** while the war with Russia continues, warning that a wartime vote could split and destabilize Ukraine.

Zelenskyy called elections under current conditions a “huge risk”, saying they could effectively “destroy” the country by creating internal divisions.

His remarks came after former Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov called for a mechanism to restore Ukraine's democratic electoral process despite the ongoing war.

Ukraine's elections remain suspended under martial law.
