**A Syrian clan patriarch in Leipzig is said to have at least three wives under Islamic law, at least 32 children and 25 grandchildren, according to Saxony’s State Criminal Police Office (LKA),** as cited by [BILD](https://www.bild.de/regional/leipzig/lka-warnt-vor-kriminellen-grossfamilien-syrischer-clan-chef-hat-32-kinder-6a8843ec1c4720d416547288).

BILD calculated that child benefit for 32 eligible children would amount to nearly €100,000 per year, although the report does not establish that the family actually receives that sum. Several of the patriarch’s sons have been convicted of offenses including fatal reckless driving, drug trafficking and violent crimes.
