According to journalists, the leadership of the Workers' Party (PT) of Brazil held an emergency meeting that lasted eight hours, as a result of which eight people withdrew from the election campaign of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT), who is running again for the presidency. 

The atmosphere is subdued and those involved include ministers, former ministers, treasurers and senators.
