**Britain is** [bringing back](https://www.army.mod.uk/news/saddle-up-why-the-british-army-is-bringing-back-the-war-horse/) **the war horse — now with camouflage. 

The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment is testing horses for reconnaissance, concealment and movement across difficult terrain where armored vehicles can struggle, including dense woodland and boggy ground.**

At Longmoor Training Area in Hampshire, soldiers tested bespoke horse camouflage, mounted navigation and sustainment. The Army says lessons from Ukraine and the Middle East have renewed interest in such low-tech capabilities, noting that allied forces have also used pack horses in austere environments, including Afghanistan.
