**China and Pakistan hold first joint army drills in Xinjiang**

On October 14, the Karakoram-2026 military exercises opened at a base in China's Korla (Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region) — the first-ever joint ground force drills between China and Pakistan. Previously, military cooperation between the two countries was limited to special forces, border troops, and the navy.

The drills focus on high-altitude counter-terrorism operations: drone control, engaging moving targets, long-range sniping, and joint command.

They will last until the end of October.
