**ConocoPhillips has** [signed](https://ventureglobal.com/2026/10/01/venture-global-and-conocophillips-announce-20-year-lng-sales-and-purchase-agreement/) **a 20-year agreement to buy 1 million metric tons of LNG annually from Venture Global beginning in 2030, adding another major long-term buyer to the US exporter’s expanding portfolio.**

The deal follows Venture Global’s September agreement with China Gas for another 0.5 million tons annually over 20 years from 2030. That contract lifted China Gas’s total long-term purchases from Venture Global to 2.5 million tons per year.

The two agreements point to the broader shift toward locking in LNG supply for decades rather than relying heavily on volatile spot markets. The trend has gained urgency amid geopolitical disruptions, including QatarEnergy’s force majeure, while Venture Global continues expanding a US LNG portfolio that it says now exceeds 100 million tons of annual capacity in production, construction or development.
