Czech agriculture is expected to lose roughly CZK 20 billion in revenue this year [~$968 million], according to Jan Doležal, president of the Czech Agrarian Chamber. He described this year’s harvest as the country’s worst in 15 years, with grain output expected to fall 17% and rapeseed production by around 20%.

The Chamber attributed the crop losses mainly to drought, summer heat and spring frosts, while the dairy sector is losing about CZK 20 million per day because milk purchase prices remain below production costs. Doležal said higher fuel and fertilizer costs are further worsening the sector’s financial position.
