**NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe, Gen. Alexus Grynkewich, is developing a “Theory of Victory” for rapidly defeating a potential Russian incursion on NATO’s eastern flank,** [Bloomberg](https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2026-10-05/nato-drafts-plan-to-defeat-a-russian-attack-with-drones-and-ai) **reports. An unclassified version seen by the outlet is due to be presented in Poland on October 12.**

The concept calls for first halting an advance, then using low-cost drones, minimally crewed systems and AI-enabled targeting alongside conventional forces to gain freedom of maneuver before striking Russian command-and-control nodes and defeating the attacking force.

The approach draws on NATO’s Eastern Flank Deterrence Initiative and is framed as defensive rather than a standing plan for offensive action.
