**Peru has** [severed](https://www.gob.pe/institucion/rree/noticias/1437604-el-peru-rompe-relaciones-diplomaticas-con-la-republica-islamica-de-iran) **diplomatic relations with Iran, the South American country's Foreign Ministry said.**

The move is linked, in particular, to the situation in the Middle East and Iran's actions in the Strait of Hormuz.
