Russian figure skater Lev Lazarev received a show of solidarity from his rivals after winning the opening ISU Junior Grand Prix event in Xi’an, China.

Competing as an Individual Neutral Athlete, Lazarev had no national flag during the podium photos. New Zealand silver medalist Yanhao Li and Japanese bronze medalist Daiya Ebihara initially posed with their own flags, then folded them away before joining Lazarev for another photo without national symbols.

Lazarev won the junior men’s event with 250.21 points, ahead of Li on 230.89 and Ebihara on 219.76.
