Russian President Vladimir Putin held a [phone call](https://www.special.kremlin.ru/events/president/news/80589) with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, discussing the current state and future development of Russian-Syrian relations. Both sides expressed readiness to deepen political dialogue and expand trade, economic, humanitarian and other cooperation.

Putin reaffirmed Russia’s support for Syria’s unity, territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as efforts toward long-term normalization and post-conflict reconstruction. The two presidents also highlighted the importance of the August 9 memorandum on **the reorganization of Russia’s Khmeimim air base and its logistics support facility in Tartus.**
