**Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa has** [appointed](https://sana.sy/en/presidency/2338898/) **former SDF commander Mazloum Abdi as an adviser to the Presidency of the Republic under Decree No. 164. The decree identifies him by his full name, Mustafa Khalil Abdi.**

The appointment comes two days after Abdi announced the dissolution of the Syrian Democratic Forces as an independent force and their integration into Syrian state institutions, moving the former commander into a formal role within Damascus.
