**The Bundeswehr is excluding some soldiers with family ties to Russia or Belarus from its Lithuania brigade after they failed security vetting.** [BILD](https://www.bild.de/politik/inland/spionage-alarm-bundeswehr-sortiert-deutsch-russen-fuer-litauen-aus-6aaaced9a9420481bd213ea7) **says they are considered a “high risk” for the NATO eastern-flank deployment, while remaining eligible to serve in Germany.**

BILD says they may still travel to Russia. The brigade meanwhile remains short of personnel: only about 60% of posts have been filled voluntarily, leaving roughly 2,000 troops still needed ahead of full deployment by the end of 2027.
