**The US rejected a request from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for Washington to lead a new military campaign against the Houthis in Yemen**, according to Kan News Arab affairs correspondent [Roi Kais](https://x.com/kaisos1987/status/2093756462392590372).

Citing a source in anti-Houthi forces in Yemen who is in contact with the Americans, Kais reported that bin Salman made the request during a mid-August meeting with US Central Command chief Adm. Brad Cooper. Washington said it was prepared to support a Saudi operation, but would not lead it.
