**U.S. forces, working with Ecuador, intercepted and sank a vessel operating as a floating refueling station for drug traffickers in international waters of the Eastern Pacific, U.S. Southern Command said.**

[SOUTHCOM](https://www.southcom.mil/News/PressReleases/Article/4589814/interdiction-of-narco-terrorist-refueling-vessel-sept-2-2026/) said intelligence confirmed the vessel was supporting the Los Choneros cartel. U.S. Marines and sailors from the USS San Antonio boarded and cleared the vessel without incident before transferring those aboard to Ecuadorian authorities.
