**US authorities have returned 36 looted antiquities worth more than $5 million to Syria, the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office** [said](https://manhattanda.org/d-a-bragg-announces-return-of-36-antiquities-to-the-people-of-syria/). **The collection includes a monumental Palmyran relief and 14 mosaics stolen from an ancient Roman villa.**

Thirteen artifacts were seized from New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, while four came from the collection of billionaire antiquities collector Michael Steinhardt.
