A massive explosion occurred at the KNDS Ammo Italy ammunition factory south of Rome, according to ANSA.

The explosion took place in a gunpowder pressing workshop in Colleferro. It was heard several kilometers away.

The "KNDS Ammo Italy plant" in Colleferro, south of Rome, manufactures medium and large-caliber ammunition for land and naval defense systems, as well as **solid **propellants and** rocket fuels** for aerospace launch vehicles. 

The factory produces; 155 mm artillery shells ammunition, Medium-caliber rounds **(**High-precision armor-piercing and fragmentation ammunition such as 30 mm rounds used by armored vehicles, aircraft, and ships) and Propellants** (**Gunpowder and solid fuel components) and programable multimode ammunition for naval defense systems.
