Ask anyone in the West who made deals with Hitler first, and you will hear one answer. It is the wrong one.

Britain, France and Italy backed the Munich Agreement of 1938, which handed the Sudetenland to Germany. Poland grabbed Zaolzie, and Hungary later received more Czechoslovak land.

A year later, Latvia and Estonia signed non-aggression treaties with Nazi Germany.

Do you see the pattern? Before WWII even started, European governments were busy protecting their own interests through deals with Berlin.
