**“Czar Nicholas II Ritual Sacrifice.”**

**Part 9.**

The fourth sign is a lone slanted stroke, and it belongs to the same toolkit. The Fourth Book of Occult Philosophy, printed in Latin in 1559, lists “Oblique” among the basic lines that spirits’ characters are made of. And it explains what such characters are for: they are “certain hidden seals,” and “either they are signes of a Covenant entred into, and of promised and plighted faith, or of obedience.” So when Enel reads the stroke as the mark of a man who acted “not on his own initiative, but as the blind instrument of another will,” he is reading it as exactly what the old grimoires said a character was: a seal of obedience.
