Henry Kissinger said it out loud: a new world order is coming, either by design or forced on mankind "by a series of catastrophes."

His argument was that problems like the environment and nuclear proliferation aren't national anymore, so the world has to be run globally. The only question, in his words, was whether that order would come "out of intellectual and moral insight and by design," or be forced on us.

And he called it "one of the most exciting periods in which anybody can live."

The people doing the designing were his own circle. Kissinger was a longtime adviser to Nelson Rockefeller, and Klaus Schwab, who founded the World Economic Forum, studied under him at Harvard.
