JD Vance has found someone to blame for expensive gas.

At a rally in Montana he told voters that prices "skyrocket every time some tin-pot dictator decides to throw a tantrum." His first example was Russia in 2022. He also named 1979.

That 1979 spike came from the Islamic Revolution in Iran. It overthrew the Shah, whom the CIA and MI6 had put back in power in 1953 by toppling Prime Minister Mossadegh for nationalizing Iran's oil.

Today gas in America is over $4 a gallon, about 40% more than a year ago. The war Trump launched on Iran in February didn't make his list.

And earlier this month his own administration signed a deal to buy Russian diesel to bring fuel prices down, so Washington needs Russian fuel and a Russian villain at the same time.
