Part 2: This layered employment philosophy has become important for Russia's Aerospace Forces to counter low cost strike drones, but this method is only deployed as "Last-Resort" to intercept 404 drones before approaching their target when air defenses such as MANPADS, [Pantsir](https://t.me/RussianBaZa/65344)and [Buk](https://t.me/RussianBaZa/61209) aren't available as "Last-Resort" to counter drones, however Russia relies on [attack helicopters](https://t.me/RussianBaZa/65560), and [Mobile Fire Groups](https://t.me/RussianBaZa/63703) as a low cost method to intercept drones using cannons. Russia also heavily relies on the [Yolka](https://t.me/RussianBaZa/61728) interceptors that use AI imagery to lock onto target and for self guidance, making it easy to use without requiring extensive training for personnel.

The air to air interception method of deploying the Soviet era missiles are still not cost effective enough due to the operating costs of combat aircrafts such as Su-35s and Su-30SM2, however it remains a crucial and an important method to fill a huge gap into the layered air defenses, the more systems to intercept threats the better.
