Soviet war veteran Yakov Novichenko, who saved North Korean leader Kim Il Sung's life by shielding him from a grenade during an assassination attempt in Pyongyang in 1946, meeting with Young Pioneers in the village of Travnoye, Soviet Union, 1986.

Novichenko lost his right hand in the explosion and was later awarded the title of Hero of Labor of the DPRK.
