The company **"Bureau 1440"** tested the **"Sunrise"** satellite internet system in the **Arctic region**... for remote voting in the State Duma elections.

A small subscriber terminal from "Bureau 1440" was installed in the village of **Nelmin-Nos**, Nenets Autonomous Okrug, providing communication with satellites in orbit and data transmission for a Wi-Fi connection to a tablet.

If we overlook the perplexing connection to the elections, this is essentially a **demonstration of the functionality** of a Russian counterpart to the Starlink system, providing satellite internet in remote areas. Russia is getting closer to launching this service, first at a stationary level in rear command centers, and then closer to the front lines.

This system already works in the [combat zones](https://t.me/RussianBaZa/64740), in providing datalink to some Geranium variants but there isn't 24/7 coverage yet as of this moment. Russia is aiming to achieve 24/7 coverage in combat zones and western regions of the Russian Federation by 2027.
