An official on the Prime Minister’s team who was on the late-night phone call between Netanyahu and Trump said:

Contrary to the leak, Trump did not say anything personal to Netanyahu along the lines of warning him to stay out of jail or claiming that Netanyahu is hated around the world.

The conversation was indeed tense and dealt with mutual complaints by the two leaders about their social-media posts, in which they each presented the outcomes of the long phone call that had taken place the previous evening.

Trump complained that Netanyahu’s tweet suggested that apart from the strikes in Beirut, the war was continuing at full intensity.

Netanyahu complained that Trump’s post implied that Israel had ceased fire on all fronts.

Trump did say during the call that it is difficult to present Israel’s position to the world and that this results in hatred toward it.

According to the official, the call ended with understandings that Israel would refrain from attacking in Beirut, on the condition that it was not attacked within its own borders.
