Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said that Iran is currently facing its worst crisis since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. He warned of a severe natural gas shortage after Israeli strikes on the country’s power plants, gas network and factories.

"In the 48 years since the Islamic Revolution, we have never been in such straits and hardship," Pezeshkian told a planning council meeting for East Azerbaijan province, according to the Tasnim news agency.

Pezeshkian said Iran was already short 300 million cubic meters of gas when attacks damaged its gas lines to the tune of 230 million cubic meters a day. He urged Iranians to save energy and wear warm clothes at home so factories could stay open.
