로슈 자회사 제넨텍이 뇌질환 치료제 전문 Alector(NASDAQ:ALEC)의 파킨슨병 치료제, AL050를 도입하는 $1.27B 규모 딜을 체결하였다.  업프론트는 $100M이고 별도의 로열티도 있다. 

AL050은 GCase (glucocerebrosidase) 효소에 뇌혈관장벽(BBB) 투과 전달 플랫폼을 결합한 제품으로  GCase 효소 활성과 체내 반감기를 최적화하였고, 현재 전임상 개발 중이다. 

GBA 변이는 파킨슨병의 가장 흔한 유전적 위험요인이며, 이러한 환자들에서는 리소솜의 GCase 효소가 결핍되어 신경독성 단백질인 알파-시누클레인(Alpha-synuclein)이 비정상적으로 응집되면서, 뇌신경 퇴행이 촉진된다. AL050는 뇌로 GCase 효소를 전달해 주어 GBA 변이 파킨슨병을 치료하려는 것이다.  

참고로 Alector의 BBB 투과기술, ABC(Alector Brain Carrier)는 Transferrin Receptor  결합에 기반한다.
