**China Cuts U.S. Treasury Holdings**

**China** continues selling **U.S. Treasuries**. Its holdings fell to their **lowest level since 2008**.

Over the year, **China’s** holdings dropped from **$731.4 billion** in **June 2025** to **$633.4 billion** in **June 2026**.

**China** once held the most **U.S. government debt**, reaching a record **$1.13 trillion** in **February 2019**. **Japan** took first place in **June 2019** and remains the largest holder. **China** is now selling **U.S. government debt** and buying **gold**.
