The U.S. national debt has reached a record high of $300,000 per household, and the debt per citizen has exceeded $100,000.
The total amount of borrowing is $40.44 trillion, with $40 trillion being surpassed recently – on August 18th, according to data from the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
The U.S. national debt now exceeds 127% of GDP.
